About this plan
How many chapters a day is the 90-day plan?
13.2 on average: 1,189 chapters over 90 days. Days run from 7 to 35 chapters because the plan balances the length of each day in words, not in chapters.
How long does each day take?
37 min on average at 238 words a minute, the average adult silent reading speed. The lightest day is about 33 min and the heaviest about 41 min. Reading aloud at 183 words a minute adds about 30% to those times.
What is the hardest day of this plan?
Day 53, Isaiah 22-37, at 9,651 words (41 min). The plan never splits a chapter, so a stretch of long chapters makes a long day.
Can I start on any date?
Yes. The days are numbered, not dated. Pick any start day and count forward, or use the generator on the reading plan page to get a dated list you can copy or print.
Plans split whole chapters of the King James Version into days of about equal length. Words are counted from the full KJV text (apostrophes join a word, so LORD's is one word); minutes assume the average adult silent reading rate of 238 words a minute (Brysbaert 2019). A day is never shorter than one chapter or longer than the chapters that come nearest to the daily average. Data compiled 2026-10-03.
